Atempo joins the Technology Providers Panel (TPP) for ExCALIBUR (UK)

The Exascale Computing Algorithms & Infrastructures Benefiting UK Research (ExCALIBUR) programme is led by the UK Met Office and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) along with the Public Sector Research Establishment, the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) research councils, including the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), the Medical Research Council (MRC) and the Science and Technologies Facilities Council (STFC).

ExCALIBUR aims to harness the power of future supercomputers and keep UK research and development at the forefront of high-performance simulation science and continue to make scientific advances on some of the most challenging physical problems, such as weather forecasting, engine design, astrophysics, particle physics and fusion energy.

The program will address the challenges faced by the transformed supercomputer arena in the coming decade and specifically the need for:

  • Rapidly developing supercomputer designs and requirements
  • New software code and algorithms to handle computing needs
  • Orchestrating and protecting massive data volumes generated by these algorithms

Atempo are proud to bring their HPC Data Orchestration expertise to the ExCALIBUR TPP. Atempo’s Miria solution can manage, store, move and catalogue HPC data and metadata generated on any file system up to exabyte levels.

We are delighted to welcome Atempo to the Technology Providers Panel. One of the ExCALIBUR pillars is Data Science which we anticipate will include researching workflows to manage and analyze vast volumes of simulation data. Atempo will provide invaluable input on managing and moving supercomputer generated data workflows.” Dr Jeremy Yates, UCL, Co-director of ExCALIBUR H&ES.

The UK supercomputing arena has great potential and ambition and will be a global player in many key areas in the coming decade. Atempo are delighted to be part of the ExCALIBUR program. Our scalable, vendor-agnostic approach is entirely suited to exascale computing needs”, Christophe Darras, Atempo UK Director of Media, Broadcast and HPC
